Blanch the TomatoesTo easily remove the skin (this step is what makes marinara sauce silky), put the whole tomatoes in boiling water for 3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon. Run over cold water and gently peel off the skin. |

Peel and crush the garlic. Add 2 Tbsp oil to a pan over medium heat and cook garlic until golden brown, about 3 minutes. |

Remove the sees from the peeled tomatoes and add to sauce pan with the remaining oil. |

Season with salt and pepper, add chopped fresh basil, and cook on medium-low for 15 minutes. |
